Common questions

In most cases, yes. Working areas, access routes and hours are agreed in advance so that operations can continue alongside the works.

The system is selected from manufacturer data based on the substrate, the existing coating, the exposure conditions and the required service life.

Condition, preparation and completed work will be made into a report for clients upon completion.

It comes down to remaining section. Where corrosion is surface or pitting only and the steel is structurally sound, preparation and a protective system will extend its life. Where section has been lost at bases, connections or fixings, that is reported as replacement or repair work rather than coated over.

Preparation is matched to the substrate and the specified system - hand and power tool cleaning, needle gunning, abrasive blasting or washing and degreasing. Dust and noise levels differ significantly between those methods, so where a site is occupied or sensitive we agree the method, containment and working hours before mobilising.

Expected life is taken from the manufacturer's data for the system specified, at the film thickness applied and for the exposure conditions on site. That figure is stated in the quotation so it can be compared against replacement costs and budget cycles.

Yes. Site-specific risk assessments and method statements are issued for review ahead of mobilisation, along with insurance details and operative training records. We are SafeContractor accredited and operatives hold IPAF, PASMA, CSCS and NPORS cards as relevant to the work.

Partly. Application is governed by surface temperature, dew point and humidity limits set by the manufacturer, so external work is weather dependent. Internal work, preparation and enclosed areas continue year round, and programmes are written with weather contingency built in.

Project duration depends entirely on the scale of the works - the area involved, access arrangements, the number of coats or stages, and drying times between them. Once a specification is agreed we confirm a programme in writing, and we hold slots for urgent or weather-critical work.
